Projects, phases and templates

Start a project from a template, plan its phases, follow its budget and close it properly.

Start a project

  1. Open Projects and click Add project.
  2. Choose the client and the type. Under Starter tasks, pick a template to get its tasks ready.
  3. Set the start date and, if you know it, the end date.
  4. Add the budget, contracted hours and revision rounds, and the people on the project.

To turn a project you like into a template: ⋯ › Save as template. Manage templates is on the Projects page.

Phases

On the project's overview, Phases lists the stages (briefing, concept, delivery…). Drag to reorder, tick each one when it's done, and give it a delivery date if you want. The client sees the phases in the portal.

Timeline

Timeline on the Projects page, or Gantt in a project's tasks, shows the dates as bars. Drag a bar to change its dates.

Money in a project

The overview shows Profitability: hours, expenses and margin against the budget, for people who can see money. Finance brings together its invoices and logged time.

Close it

Click Complete. gridOS lists what's still open (tasks, a running timer, hours not invoiced, unpaid invoices, deliveries waiting for the client) so nothing is forgotten. Tick Archive it too to take it out of the lists. Reopen brings it back.
